Lasko, Nov 8 (Agency) Star Indian paddler Manika Batra, along with her partner Archana Girish Kamath, registered a comfortable win over Puerto Rican pair of Melanie Diaz and Adriana Diaz by 3-0 (11-3, 11-8,12-10) in finals, to clinch the Women’s doubles title at the WTT Contender. Manika and Archana were all guns blazing from the start as they took the first game with an ease by 11-3. There was a close contest between both the opponents in the second game, but the Indian duo maintained their rhythm and took the 2-0 lead in the match with an 11-8 win in the second game.
The Diaz sisters in the third game took advantage of a series of errors committed by the Indian pair and took a 10-6 lead with seven consecutive points. The Indian duo staged a terrific comeback with six successive points and wrapped up the title. In the mixed doubles, the duo of Archana Kamath and Manav Thakkar went down to Chinese pair of Liang Jingkun/Liu Weishan by 0-3 in semifinals. India has claimed their second successive WTT Contender title in the past two weeks. Earlier, Indian men’s pair of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai bagged the Men’s doubles title in Tunis.
