Kolhapur, Nov 2 (Agency) Life Insurance Corporation of India here on Tuesday honoured Swarup Mahavir Unhalkar for his remarkable performance in the recently-concluded Tokyo Paralympics. A Kolhapur resident, Mr Unhalkar scored 615/2 in the ten metre air rifle shooting and secured fourth rank in the competition. Lauding his performance, LIC Division Office senior manager Abhay Kulkarni presented the sportsman with a cheque of Rs 10 lakh and a certificate.
He said that the LIC has pledged to support Mr Unhalkar in every possible way if he wins a gold medal in the next sporting event. To honour such players, the LIC has instituted Golden Jubilee Funds for extending monetary rewards to the winning contenders. The highest award of Rs one crore is meant for gold medal winner, Rs 50 lakh for silver medal winner, Rs 25 Lakh to bronze medal winner and Rs 10 lakh to the fourth ranking player.
