Bengaluru, April 24 (Representative) KIIT University’s Sneha Soren won gold medal in the 49kg women’s weightlifting event after lifting a total of 161kg in the second edition of Khelo India University Games held here on Sunday. She lifted 69kg in snatch and 92kg in clean and jerk.
Earlier, she had won bronze at the National Weightlifting Championship in KIIT stadium, and claimed gold during the National University Games in Guntur with a record. Around 4,500 athletes from 200 universities are taking part in the Games which will run till May 3. A total of 257 gold medals are up for grabs. The inaugural KIUG was held in 2020 at KIIT (Bhubaneswar), just before the global Covid-19 pandemic broke.
