Dubai, March 2 (Agency) India’s top-order batter Shreyas Iyer on Wednesday made a huge gain in ICC T20 rankings after his impressive performance in the series against Sri Lanka. He jumped 27 spots and ranked 18th on the latest batter rankings. Iyer scored three unbeaten half-centuries during India’s 3-0 rout of Sri Lanka. The 27-year-old scored 204 runs at a strike rate of 174 in the series.
Skipper Rohit Sharma dropped two spots to 13th on the rankings after managing just 50 runs from three games against Sri Lanka. Former captain Virat Kohli, who was rested for the Sri Lanka series, fell out of the top 10 after dropping five places to 15th. In the bowling unit, fast-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar jumped three spots to 17. There was not much movement in the ODI rankings. Afghanistan’s spinner Rashid Khan reclaimed his spot in the top 10 for bowlers following five wickets from the recent three-game series against Bangladesh. Rashid jumped six spots to ninth while team-mate Mehidy Hasan Miraz dropped two spots to seventh.
