Geneva, Apr 10 (Agency) Ingmar De Vos, President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), has been elected as the new President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federation (ASOIF) at the 48th General Assembly, the association announced. As the sole candidate for the position, Ingmar De Vos was unanimously elected at the meeting in Birmingham, Britain. He will take the post after current President Francesco Ricci Bitti finishes his term on December 31, 2024.
The Belgian, who served as the FEI President since 2014 and as an ASOIF Council member since 2019, will start his four-year presidency term on January 1, 2025. The General Assembly also announced on Tuesday to exclude the International Boxing Association as ASOIF Member, after the Court of Arbitration of Sport dismissed IBA’s appeal against the decision of the International Olympic Committee to withdraw IBA’s recognition as the International Federation for Olympic boxing on April 2.
