Indian contingent reaches England for long tour

London, Jun 3 (Agency) The Indian contingent, comprising the men’s and women’s cricket teams arrived here on Thursday ahead of their respective matches during the long England tour. ‘Touchdown,’ KL Rahul tweeted with a picture of the chartered flight in the background, confirming their safe arrival in London.

After their safe landing, both the teams proceed directly to the on-site hotel at the Hampshire Bowl, where they will be tested again before commencing a period of managed isolation. Upon completion of the quarantine period and subsequent COVID-19 test, the Virat Kohli-led men’s team will take on New Zealand in the maiden WTC final in Southampton from June 18 Thereafter, they will face England in a five-match Test series starting August 4 in Nottingham. On the other hand, the women’s side will face the hosts in a one-off Test match before playing 6 white-ball games, starting in Bristol on June 16. The Indian men’s contingent will be in the UK till September 14 while the women’s team’s tour ends on July 15.
