Manaus, Nov 29 (FN Agency) India women’s football team went down against Chile by 0-3 in their second game of the International Football Tournament, in spite of showcasing a fighting spirit here on Monday. Chile created an opportunity to score early in the 12th minute, sending a low cross from right to Javiera but the Indian goalkeeper Linthio prevented the goal with her amazing save. South American striker Maria Urrutia then scored a goal in the 14th minute and Chile took control of the game with an early 1-0 lead against India.
The rest of the half passed by without much of action as Linthoi and her defence kept the Chilean attack at bay with her amazing organisation. In the second half, India looked high on spirit and much more dangerous till the break. In the 66th minute, India retaliated with the help of Manisha and the 20-year-old substitute Dangmei Grace, whose shot was saved by Endler. A couple of minutes later, the Chilean were removed at the halfway line and Manisha went ahead and made another save from the the 30-year-old Endler. While India were rising in stature, Chile quickfired by scoring twice in the space of two minutes through Isidora Hernandez (84′) and Karen Araya (85′) and wrapped up the game. India suffered their second successive loss in the tournament and will play their last game of the International Football Tournament against Venezuela on December 2.
