Tokyo, Sep 5 (Agency) India’s para-shuttler Krishna Nagar clinched the gold medal after beating Chu Man Kai of Hong Kong in the final of the men’s singles badminton SH6 event at the Tokyo Paralympics, here on Sunday. The 22-year-old from Nagar beat Man Kai 21-17, 16-21 and 21-17 in the final as India extended its medal tally to 19 at the Paralympic Games. This was India’s fifth gold at the ongoing Games.
With this win, Krishna joined his compatriot Pramod Bhagat in the gold medal-winning list. Bhagat had won the first gold in badminton in SL3 class on Saturday. Nagar on Saturday defeated Great Britain’s Krysten Coombs by 2-0 in the men’s singles SH6 – semi-final match to enter the final.
