Dhaka, Nov 19 (Agency) India finished its campaign with a total of seven medals including one Gold, 2 Bronze and four Silvers at the Asian Archery Championship here. India’s recurve archers, who faced disappointment in the individual events, clinched three medals in the team events on Friday.
The recurve Men’s team of Olympian Pravin Jadhav, Kapil and Parth Salunkhe bagged a Silver after going down to the Korean team of Han Woo Tack, Kim Pil-Joong and Lee Seungyun by 6-0 in the Gold medal final. On the other hand, the Women’s team of Ankita Bhakat, Madhu Vedwan and Ridhi too, clinched Silver after they suffered a defeat at the hands of South Korea in the finals by 6-0. Later, the recurve mixed duo of Ankita and Kapil, bagged Bronze with a comfortable 6-0 over Uzbekistan in the Bronze medal clash.
In the compound event, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam won Gold medal in the Women’s individual event, while Abhishek Verma settled for Silver after going down to South Korea’s Kim Jongho by one point in the final, losing 149-148 on Thursday. Jyothi Vennam, triple world championship medallist in Yankton, defeated former world champion Oh Yoohyun of South Korea in a thriller to win first Gold in the continental meet. Earlier in the tournament, the compound Men’s team outshined the hosts Bangladesh by 235-223 in the Bronze medal contest. And the compound mixed team of Jyothi and Rishabh Yadav had to settle for Silver after they went down fighting to top seeded Korean pair of Kim Yunhee Choi Yonghee by 154-155.
