In a first, TNPL to feature DRS, Impact player rule

Chennai, May 31 (Agency) For the first time DRS and the Impact Player Rule will feature in the seventh edition of the T-20 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) to be held in four venues from June 12 to July 12. Talking to reporters after the official launch of this year’s edition herelast night, Tamil Nadu batsmen M.Shahrukh Khan and Tamil NaduCricket Association (TNCA) officials said, however, there won’t be DRS referrals for wides and no­ balls. He said TNPL is the biggest event after the IPL.“No tournament in India after the IPL has introduced the DRS andit’s really overwhelming,” Shahrukh, who played for Punjab Kingsin the IPL, said.There will be a reserve day each for the spill over of play for the three play­off matches and the final and full match will not be playedon the reserve day.

TNCA Official Dr Baba said tickets will be sold online for all the matches. The two­hundred rupee and the Rs 1500 (hospitality)tickets will be available online (Paytm). Eight teams will play 28 league matches across four venues– Coimbatore, Dindigul, Salem, and Tirunelveli.While Qualifier­-1 and Eliminator will be played in Salem, Qualifier­-2 andthe Final will be held in Tirunelveli. The total prize money is Rs 1.7 crore, with the winner becoming richer by Rs 50 lakh, runner-up Rs 30 lakh and Rs 20 lakh each for the teams finishing third and fourth.Teams finishing fifth to eighth will get Rs 12.5 lakh each. The TNPL event will be telecast live on Star Sports 1 Tamil and StarSports 1 HD channels.
