Haryana Deputy CM greets players on National Sports Day

Chandigarh, Aug 29 (Agency) Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala congratulated and extended best wishes to the players on National Sports Day. He announced that Bhavina Patel, who won a silver medal in the Women’s Singles Class 4 category of Table Tennis at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, would be given an amount of Rs. 31 lakh from the Table Tennis Federation of India. Mr Chautala, who is also the President of Table Tennis Federation of India, told during the press conference here today that Table Tennis player Bhavina Patel has created history.

He said that Bhavina has become the first table tennis player of India to win a medal in Paralympics. He said that today during a discussion with the officers of the Federation has been decided that on reaching New Delhi, Bhavina Patel will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 31 lakh during a programme. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the stamina shown by Bhavina Patel in the game of table tennis sitting in a wheelchair has proved that no disability can stop a person from achieving their goal if there is a firm determination. He expressed hope that the Paralympic team, which reached Tokyo under the leadership of Deepa Malik, would win medals for the country.
