FIFAe Nations: India finish on top in online qualifier week 1

New Delhi, Dec 19 (FN Agency) India’s e-Tigers contingent finished on top of the table in the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers 2022 Play-ins Match Week 1 in the Asia & Oceania Zone here. Siddh Chandarana, Charanjot Singh and Lokmanyu Chaturvedi were the three players who represented the India FIFAe National Squad where the e-Tigers took on the challenge of Korea Republic, Malaysia, Japan and Indonesia in a single round-robin format in Match Week 1. India finished top of the standings with 16 points in 8 games played. They won against Korea Republic with 6 points, drew with Japan and Malaysia with 3 points respectively, and garnered 4 points against Indonesia in the last game. As many as 54 member associations took part in the Play-ins and India had been grouped together with their 4 competitors in Division 1, Conference 1 of the Asia and Oceania Zone.

National e-Tiger champion Charanjot Singh mentioned the “game plan was simple.” “We had a simple game plan to go out and win the matches. We got really lucky against Korea, and got a goal. We were dominating each and every game which I am really happy about,” he said. All games were played in a 2v2 format in the competitive mode within FIFA22 on the PlayStation 5 version of the game. Reflecting on the result Lokmanyu said: “The Match week 1 went fantastic for us as a team. We got the results we wanted. All the games were important but we did our best.” “The pressure is always on us as we were representing the country but we enjoyed a lot and finally had a great result. Finishing at the top of the table is something which was unexpected and I am really happy and proud of all of us,” Siddh, another e-Tiger mentioned. India will play their next Match week 2 from January 27-28, 2022.
