Delhi beat Kochi in 3BL Round 1

Chandigarh, March 9 (Representative) Delhi Divas emerged victorious in Round 1 of the 3×3 Pro Basketball women’s league after defeating defending champions Kochi Stars 15-7 on Wednesday. Delhi led by former national team captain Raspreet Sidhu, who was also adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the game while Kochi Stars was captained by national player Stephy Nixon. This was a terrific revenge victory for Delhi, who had lost against defending champions Kochi in the pool stages in a tight overtime game. Despite an ankle injury suffered by Tavleen Bhandal, Delhi maintained its momentum to keep extending it’s lead.

Delhi’s defence was particularly top notch against Kochi, restricting them to just seven points. Twelve men’s teams and six women’s teams are participating across six rounds in this league. Winners will be announced at the end of each round. The winner of the final round will be crowned the overall champion. 3BL is India’s only Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) backed 3×3 Pro Basketball League. Besides the chance to win each round, top teams also get the exclusive opportunity to compete at FIBA 3×3’s international circuit such as Challengers and World Tours.
