Jammu, Nov 28 (FN Agency) Taking an advantage of the rest day, the former cricketers, who are in the town to thrill Jammuities with their bats and balls during four matches of Legend League Cricket (LLC) on Tuesday turned golfers at scenic Jammu Tawi Golf Course situated in Sidhra area in the outskirts of the city. World famous international legends Martin Guptill, Kevin Pietersen, Ben Dunk, Devon Smith, Rusty Theron, Tilakratne Dilshan, Nikhil Chopra and many more took a break from their intense tournament schedule in a delightful diversion from the cricket pitch and enjoyed a relaxing round of golf at the Golf Course. Secretary, Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Manav Gupta while welcoming the cricketers briefed them about the amenities of Jammu Tawi Golf Course and also invited them for the future events at the international standard Jammu Tawi Golf Course.Manav said that the cricketers enjoyed a friendly competition and displayed the camaraderie that transcends beyond cricket boundaries amidst the lush greens and breathtaking landscapes of Jammu Tawi Golf Course. “On the rest day from the high-octane cricket action at Maulana Azad Stadium, the cricket legends showcased their skills on the golf course, creating a spectacle for local fans who turned up to witness this unique gathering of sporting prowess,” said the Secretary.
Manav said that impressed by the impeccable beauty and maintenance standards of the Jammu Tawi Golf Course, the legends were effusive in their praise. “It’s not just the cricket grounds that are spectacular in Jammu; the golf course is equally enchanting,” Martin Guptil expressed.Kevin Pietersen echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the stunning course would remain etched in their memories. The visit to Jammu Tawi Golf Course not only provided the cricketers with a rejuvenating break but also fostered a connection between the international sports stars and the local community, said the Secretary stating, “as these cricket legends continue to dazzle on the cricket field, their off-day golf outing serves as a memorable chapter in their Jammu experience.” The Jammu Tawi Golf Course notably hosted the third edition of Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) from October 4-7.
“Jammu Tawi Golf Course is a full-fledged International Standard 18 holes Golf Course and it is a matter of pride for us to host the stalwarts in the international cricket from across the World,” said Gupta, adding, that their words of appreciation after visiting the picturesque Golf Course is really an honour for the administration, which is keen to promote golf tourism in the Jammu and Kashmir. Leaving the appreciative comments in the visitor book, former England captain, Kevin Pietersen mentioned, “Thank you for your generous hospitality. Wonderful course and a pleasure to play.” Former Australian cricketer Ben Dunk mentioned, “Great course and great people. Thank you for so much fun.” South African cricketer Rusty Theron wrote, “many thanks for a lovely day. Great course and wonderful people. Great day out.” On November 29, Irfan Pathan captained Bhilwara Kings will take on Southern Super Stars, on November 30, Gautam Gambhir led India Capitals will face Parthiv Patel led Gujarat Giants and in the last match of LLC at Jammu on December 1 Irfan Pathan led Bhilwara Kings will take on Suresh Raina led Urban Risers Hyderabad.
