Buenos Aires, April 24 (Agency) Gaston Veron’s first-half strike was enough to hand Argentinos Juniors a 1-0 home victory over 10-man Corinthians in the Copa Sudamericana. The 23-year-old forward put the hosts ahead with a calm finish following Emiliano Viveros’ superb through ball on Tuesday. The visitors were forced to play the last hour with only 10 men after Raul Gustavo was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.
Argentinos Juniors now lead Group F with six points for two games so far, two points clear of second-placed Corinthians. In other Copa Sudamericana fixtures on Tuesday, Universidad Catolica won 3-1 at Alianza, Trinidense eased to a 2-0 victory over Nacional Potosi, and Cuiaba drew 1-1 at Deportivo Garcilaso.
