Kolkata, Nov 8 (Representative) Skipper Sudip Chatterjee’s 28-ball-50 run and his 71 runs first wicket partnership with Abhimanyu Easwaran (32) earned Bengal an easy nine-wicket victory over struggling Services in a low scoring Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket in Group B play at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Monday. Sent to batting Services were 90 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Bengal surpassed the target easily in 10.5 overs scoring 91 for loss of Sudi Chatterjee’s wicket, who made half-a-century hitting eight boundaries and a lofty six. Services batting collapsed at 90 despite Devender Lochats’ fine knock of 34 and Schidanand Pandey’s quickfire of 22 in 13 balls. For Bengal, Pradipta Pramanik took two wickets conceding 16.
Bengal now stood at second in the table with 12 points from 4 matches and Karnataka were atop the chart with 16 points, eight points ahead of Mumbai, who played four matches so far. ” We suffered a narrow defeat in the last match ( Mumbai) so the next two were very important for us. This kind of dominating victory was needed and we all are very happy. The whole bowling unit performed well, restricting opponents to a low total. Keeping the run rate high was our priority and we finished the match early with a quick chase,” captain Chatterjee said at the end of play. “The spinners have done well. There was help from the wicket and they bowled in the right areas throughout the match to keep opponents batters under pressure. We are focused on the next match now and want to give our best,” he added.
