Mumbai, May 14 (Representative) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially opened applications for the coveted position of Head Coach for the Indian Men’s Senior Cricket Team. Interested candidates have until 6 pm IST on May 27 to submit their applications, as announced by the BCCI. The selection process will entail a meticulous review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates. The appointed Head Coach will shoulder the responsibility of nurturing a world-class Indian cricket team capable of sustained success across various conditions and formats. This role is envisioned to inspire present and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders alike. Responsibilities for the Head Coach will span across managing and enhancing the performance of the Indian Men’s team in Test, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 (T20) formats. They will lead a team of specialist coaches and support staff, defining their roles and overseeing their performance and growth. Crucial duties include upholding disciplinary standards within the team, handling marquee athletes, and establishing a framework conducive to the holistic development of players both professionally and personally.
The ideal candidate should excel in communication and management, while also maintaining high standards of professionalism and elite performance. Eligibility criteria for potential candidates dictate that they must have played a minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODIs. Alternatively, they should have served as Head Coach of a full-member Test-playing nation for at least 2 years or held coaching positions in associate member teams, IPL squads, equivalent international leagues, first-class teams, or national A teams for a minimum of 3 years. Possession of a BCCI Level 3 Certification or its equivalent is also mandatory, with candidates required to be under 60 years of age. The chosen candidate will be expected to be a strategic visionary with ambitious plans for advancing Indian cricket.
