Winning mayoral polls in Kharge’s bastion shows BJP returning to power: PM

Davanagere, Mar 25 (Representative) Taking a swipe at AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the people of Karnataka have firmly decided to bring back the double-engine government in the state. “Why? This is because of the euphoria of the Vijay Sankalp Yatre in Davanagere and excitement of BJP winning mayoral elections in the home district of Kharge,” he said.PM Modi said “Today is a happy coincidence, today Vijay Sankalp Rally is happening and at the same time in Kalburgi, Karnataka… which is the work place of National President of Congress Party, there was election of mayor and deputy mayor and BJP’s mayor and deputy mayor won in Kalburgi.” “The victory of the BJP rang out in the house of the National President of the Congress Party. This is a kind of auspicious sign of the beginning of the victory march of the Vijay Sankalp Yatre of the BJP,” he said. “The euphoria and excitement of this Vijay Sankalp Rally and winning of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s elections in Kalburagi (home district of Kharge) by the BJP are the sheer displays of Karnataka’s firm decision to bring back the double-engine government in the state,” Modi said addressing Vijay Sankalp Yatre Maha Sangam here.As many as seven lakh people attended the rally, as per the estimates of BJP leaders.Seeking a clear majority for BJP in the upcoming assembly election, PM Modi said a stable BJP government with absolute majority is very important for the rapid development of Karnataka because it has seen a long period of opportunistic and selfish coalition governments.”Karnataka has seen a long period of opportunistic and selfish coalition governments and has always suffered from such governments.

That’s why a stable BJP government with absolute majority is very important for the rapid development of Karnataka,” he said. Taking a swipe at Siddaramaiah slapping a Congress supporter, Modi said those who cannot respect their workers, will not respect people. “Yesterday I saw a video from Karnataka on social media. A senior leader of a party…the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, was taking pleasure in publicly slapping a worker of his own party. Those who cannot respect their workers, how will they respect Janata Janardan?” he said. Yesterday, Siddaramaiah had slapped his supporter so hard that its sound was clearly heard in the viral video. This is not the first time that Siddaramaiah had slapped his supporters. On 4 September 2019, he had slapped his follower at Mysuru airport. The video purportedly shows Siddaramaiah’s supporters moving forward to shake hands with him at the airport, but instead of shaking hands, Siddaramaiah gives him a tight slap. PM Modi also said that the BJP has transformed the Politics of Perception in the country into the Politics of Performance. “Our country had been marred by dirty politics for years, which was nothing but a politics of allegations and blames. But, today, the BJP has transformed the Politics of Perception in the country into the Politics of Performance,” he said.
