Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 18 (Representative) Anju Chandrasekhar, wife of BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar, voiced distress on Thursday over the prevalence of violence, including incidents within college campuses, disrupting the peace of families in Kerala. She also underscored concerns about the state’s current trajectory, citing a dependence on foreign countries for both education and employment opportunities. For the past week, in a bid to bolster support for BKP-led NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar, his wife Anju Chandrasekhar was actively engaged in door-to-door campaigning and attending family gatherings, urging residents to cast their votes in favour of their candidate. Accompanied by their son Ved, who works in the fintech sector in Bengaluru, the Chandrasekhar family is actively engaging with voters, despite concerns about their daughter Devika, a lawyer, being unable to join the campaign. Their recent campaign activities in the Nemom constituency saw them exchanging ideas with locals on matters concerning literature and culture. With a determination to further intensify their efforts in the days ahead, both Anju and Ved, along with party workers, are gearing up for an active role in the ongoing campaign. Earlier, in a statement, the NDA candidate said Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the representative of the Civil Police Officer (CPO) rank list who had been on strike for 62 days in front of the Kerala Secretariat. The CPO rank list representatives had asked for an opportunity to meet the Prime Minister when he came to Kattakkada to participate in the NDA election campaign on Monday.
Vishnu Mahesh, a representative of the CPO rank list, conveyed to the Prime Minister the challenges faced by candidates due to alleged mismanagement by the state government, resulting in the loss of deserved job opportunities. Mahesh emphasized the dire situation faced by the candidates, stressing that legal action might be the only recourse since the rank list is cancelled. Expressing empathy for their predicament, Prime Minister Modi assured the representatives of his full support in their fight for justice. He pledged to explore all avenues to ensure a fair resolution to the matter. The CPO rank list representatives lamented the lack of response from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan despite their repeated attempts to present their grievances face-to-face. They accused other political parties of ignoring their plight until NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar intervened last month, bringing the issue to public attention. Chandrasekhar, who met with the CPO candidates previously, took proactive steps by sending a letter to the Chief Minister urging intervention in the matter. The assurance from Prime Minister Modi comes as a ray of hope for the CPO rank holders, who continue their struggle for justice amidst bureaucratic indifference, the candidate added.
