New Delhi, May 31 (Agency) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday congratulated all the candidates who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam 2021. “Congratulations to all those who have cleared this year’s UPSC Civil services exam. Very happy to see women bag the top 3 ranks. All of you now have a great responsibility of serving India with utmost integrity and commitment. My best wishes for your future careers,” he said in a tweet. All the top three positions have been secured by women candidates this year.
Shruti Sharma has topped the exam, followed by Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla. A total of 685 candidates have been recommended for appointment. Out of these, 244 are from general category, 73 from Economically Weaker Sections , 203 of Other Backward Classes, 105 Scheduled Caste and 60 from the Scheduled Tribes. The UPSC examination is conducted every year in three stages – prelims, main and interview (personality test). Officers are selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other posts of Group A and B in the government.
