Union Minister Barla campaigns for Nagaland poll

Kohima, Feb 13 (Agency) Union Minister of State (MoS) for Minority Affairs John Barla has said that the Christians community of India had contributed immensely towards creating a generation of educated and empowered leaders before and after Indian independence. According to sources, speaking as the Chief Guest at an election campaign organised by National Christian Council (NCC) Nagaland Chapter at Dimapur at the Youth Oasis Centre in Eralibil area on Sunday, Barla said as a Christian and a member of the Narendra Modi Ministry he is acting as the bridge for Christians as well as minorities with the Government at the Centre.

Barla shared how catholic bishops, fathers and sisters had dedicated their lives for the well-being of others, especially in interior areas of the country, including Nagaland. He said even during the worst time of the COVID-19 pandemic, they provided healthcare facilities to the poorest of the poor. The MoS urged leaders of all Christian denominations to come together and put forward their suggestions and queries so that the suggestions could be raised on the floor of the Parliament, sources said.
