Nalgonda (Telangana), Dec 8 (Representative) Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy sharply criticised the BRS regime led by former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for neglecting the Nalgonda district. Addressing a public meeting held at G V Gudem Grounds as part of the “Praja Palana – Vijayotsavalu” on Saturday evening, he highlighted key issues impacting Nalgonda. Drawing a parallel between June 2, 2014, and December 7, 2024, Revanth emphasised the historical significance of Nalgonda in the Telangana movement, underscoring the sacrifices made by local leaders such as Konda Laxman Bapuji, Srikanthachari, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. He lamented the district’s continued struggles, recalling the contributions of past Congress governments, particularly during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure, when major projects like SLBC and Udayasamudram were initiated to address critical issues like the fluoride epidemic and irrigation. Revanth claimed that under KCR’s leadership, Nalgonda has been more neglected than it was in the united Andhra Pradesh state. The Congress leader praised the government’s focus on agriculture, stating that Telangana had reached record levels of rice production, with Nalgonda topping the state in rice cultivation. He announced a Rs 500 bonus for rice farmers, stating that under Congress, farmers could work without worry, unlike during KCR’s tenure, where promises such as rewards for rice cultivation were not fulfilled. Revanth also assured the people of Nalgonda that the government was committed to bringing Krishna water to the region and completing various irrigation projects to boost agricultural productivity. He promised further developmental strides, including a new city to be built on 50,000 acres, which would provide much-needed infrastructure and create opportunities for the people.
He accused KCR of corruption and mismanagement, particularly in handling state finances, and contrasted this with Congress’s achievements, such as waiving off Rs 21,000 crores in farm loans. He questioned the priorities of KCR and the BJP, urging the people of Telangana to reflect on whether the state was formed for the betterment of its people or for the benefit of a few families. Revanth also took aim at BJP leaders like JP Nadda and Kishan Reddy, challenging them to match Telangana’s job creation record. He proudly announced that Congress had provided 55,143 jobs in its first year in power, a record he challenged the BJP to replicate. One of the key promises made by Revanth was to clean the Musi River, a significant environmental concern in Nalgonda. He vowed to bring Godavari water to the region to alleviate the pollution in Musi and improve the lives of its residents. He accused the BRS of obstructing this important project and stated that no matter the opposition, Congress would ensure the river’s purification. Revanth assured that Rythu Barosa amount would be deposited into farmers’ accounts after Sankranti, further solidifying Congress’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. He urged farmers to grow fine rice to earn bonuses, which would support public welfare programs, including feeding underprivileged children. Earlier, the Chief Minister dedicated the 800 MW Unit 2 of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station to the nation and unveiled the pylon marking the station’s completion. The Chief Minister also unveiled the pylon for the Udaya Samudra Lift Irrigation Project at Brahmana Vellemula in Narketpally Mandal of Nalgonda district. Additionally, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for several developmental programs through a virtual platform. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkatreddy, and others.
