Kolhapur, Mar 28 (Agency) Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana(SSS) national chief Raju Shetty on Tuesday demanded stern action against Mukadams who supply sugarcane cutter labourers to sugarcane transporters, who(Mukadams) cheated sugarcane transporters of Rs 446 crores during last two years. A SSS delegation, including SSS Sugarcane Transporters Sanghatana office bearers, led by Mr Shetty , met state inspector general of police Rajani Seth in Mumbai today, said that Makadams while supplying sugarcane cutter labourers to sugarcane transporters, took Rs 10 to 15 lakh advance amounts every year from more than one sugarcane transporters when crushing session of sugar factories began, Mukadam available labourers to only one transporters and cheated other transporters with taking advance amounts and it was serious matter as those vehicle owners(transporters) were committing suicides in the state.
Following the political support, action could not take so far against such Mukadams. He demanded to take stern action against such Mukadams for cheating. After the meeting Mr Seth directed to all police chiefs in the state to take immediate action against such Mukadams and speedup police investigation to search these Mukadams where cheating case booked against Mukadams. Along Mr Shetty, Prthviraj Powar, Sandeep Rajiba, Praveen Shetty, Shivaji Patil, Ravsaheb Abdan, Ananda Fharakte and others were present in this occassion.
