New Delhi, Jan 25 (FN Agency) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener on Saturday said that a lot of work has been done in the past 10 years to lay new sewer lines, and in the next 5 years, all areas of Delhi will have their sewer lines fixed. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said, “When we first came to power in 2015, we inherited several problems. One major issue was that of sewers. Delhi has 1,792 unauthorized colonies. Before 2015, no development was allowed in these colonies due to orders from the Supreme Court and the central government. We overcame all those obstacles and started working within these unauthorized colonies.” “These colonies had no sewer pipelines, so all the sewage used to flow through drains and streets. Over the past 10 years, we have laid sewer pipelines on a large scale in almost all of these colonies.
Now, work is underway to connect every house to the sewer system,” he said. “On the other hand, in colonies where sewer pipelines were already there, they have become very old. I often hear complaints that the sewer is overflowing and leaking. The sewers are clogged, and sewer water is mixing with drinking water. After forming the government, wherever sewer pipelines have become damaged or leaked in Delhi, those old pipelines will be replaced on a war footing to resolve the issues caused by the sewers,” the former CM said. “If there is a sewer issue in your area, there is no need to worry. After our government is formed, we will replace the sewer pipelines in your area as well. We will ensure the cleaning of sewers so that everyone can be relieved from the problems caused by sewage,” he asserted.
