SC re-lists defamation case against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to Aug 12

New Delhi, May 13 (Agency) The Supreme Court on Monday re-listed the criminal defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over retweeting a video of YouTuber Dhruv Rathee of BJP IT Cell to August 12. A bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta asked senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi who appeared for the Delhi CM as to what is the position of the case and posted the matter to August 12.

Singhvi replied,” Our counsel will contact the complainant’s side…there was some issue”. The Bench then re-listed the case to August 12, 2024. The case pertains to a matter where YouTuber Dhruv Rathee circulated an allegedly defamatory video titled ‘BJP IT Cell Part II’ in May 2018. Kejriwal retweeted it. A complaint was filed against Kejriwal for the retweet. On February 26, 2024, the Delhi Chief Minister told the Apex Court that he made a mistake by retweeting Rathee’s video.
