New Delhi, Aug 27 (Agency) The Congress on Saturday launched a scathing attack at the AAP government in Delhi over an alleged excise scam and asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal why he has not sacked Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia despite “prima facie” evidence. The party also claimed that the alleged corruption in liquor policy was against the founding principles of the AAP as it had vowed to fight corruption when it was born out of India Against Corruption movement. Addressing the media, Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken said: “In Delhi, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case in alleged liquor scam. I want to remind you all that AAP was born out of IAC movement. The party had talked about ‘Swaraj’ and to fight corruption. But this scam is against the founding priciples of AAP.”
Recalling Kejriwal’s statement that he had made at the initial stage of his entry into politics that a Minister should resign if any corruption charge is levelled against him, Maken said, “Today, I want to ask Kejriwalji, now when one of his Minister (Satyendar Jain) is in jail , another Minister (Sisodia) against whom there is case of CBI, and ‘prima facie’ established that he (Sisodia) was involved as he benefited people. Why he is not sacking Sisodia ? Sisodia has no right to remain as a Minister.” “It is unfortunate that when there is allegation of scam they are not giving answer to this. They are talking about education . When we talk about corruption in education, then they will talk on health. When we talk about corruption in health, they will talk some other thing. I challenge Kejriwal to debate on the liqour scam.”
