Rahul urges Goan voters to give majority to Congress

Panaji, Feb 11 (Agency) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday urged the electorates to vote for the party so that it could win at least 30-35 seats and form a majority government. ”The fight is only between Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). None of the other parties can form a government. Only Congress will form the government. Please do not waste your vote. Ensure that Congress wins maximum number of seats and gets full majority,” he said, addressing a public meeting at Curchorem in South Goa. He alleged the Centre had ruined small and medium entrepreneurs during the last eight years. ”Poor did not benefit from demonetisation. Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented in a flawed manner.

This affected small and medium enterprises. Mining ban in Goa affected people,” he said and assured that if voted to power Congress party would start sustainable mining through legal means. Accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to make Goa a coal hub, the Congress leader said he would not allow it to happen. ”May what happen, we will not allow Goa’s environment to be destroyed,” he said. He promised that Rs 500 crore would be reserved for creation of jobs in the first budget of the government. He said investment would be made to revive the tourism sector in the state. ”We have expertise and we know how Goa’s economy can be brought on track,” he added.
