Khammam (Telangana), July 2 (FN Bureau) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced on Sunday that the party would provide a pension of Rs 4,000 to senior citizens and widows if Congress comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections.Speaking at a massive public meeting called “Jana Garjhana” in connection with the conclusion of CLP Leader Batti Vikra Markha’s People’s March and the joining of former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Rahul Gandhi emphasised that the political landscape in Telangana revolves solely around a battle between the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), as there is no presence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.He alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR)-led BRS is corrupt and enjoys the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Referring to the BRS as the BJP’s “B team,” Rahul Gandhi pointed out that KCR has supported all of Modi’s decisions, suggesting that KCR is under Modi’s influence.Expressing confidence in the Congress’ ability to defeat the BRS, Rahul stated that the party had successfully fought against corruption in Karnataka with the help of farmers, tribals, and the poor.
He believes a similar victory can be achieved in Telangana.Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the people of Telangana have yet to see their aspirations fulfilled, even after nine years. He accused the BRS of being a party of the BJP’s relatives and criticised CM KCR for acting like the king of Telangana. Rahul also raised concerns about alleged corruption through the Dharani Portal.Expressing his joy at visiting Telangana after the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi stated that the yatra was undertaken to promote national unity, and he appreciated the support of the people across the country for the initiative.He warmly welcomed Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and commended his tenacity. Rahul also praised Bhatti for organising the People’s March to understand the issues faced by the people in the state.Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy, CLP Leader Bhatti Vikramarkha, former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and several Congress leaders attended the meeting.
