Rahul attacks PM Modi over alleged coal scam

New Delhi, Feb 23 (Agency) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over an alleged coal scam in Gujarat. Quoting a news report, the Congress leader said in a tweet, “6 million tonnes of coal “missing”! Will the Prime Minister ‘Friend’ say anything on this coal scam?” As per a newspaper report, around 60 lakh tonnes of coal meant for Small and Medium Industries was sold to industries of other states. The report said it was a scam worth around Rs. 6000 crore. Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh also raised the issue. “In last 14 years, 60 lakh tonnes of coal have been sent from the mines of Coal India in the name of traders and small industries of Gujarat.

Its average price is Rs 1,800 crore at Rs 3,000 per tonne, but instead of selling it to traders and industries, it has been sold in other states at a price of Rs 8,000 to 10,000/tonne,” he said at a press conference. “A time bound investigation should be constituted under the sitting judge of Supreme Court of India. This investigation should investigate involvement of all the four CMs of Gujarat from 2008 till date – Shri Narendra Modi, Smt Anandiben Patel, Shri Vijay Rupani and Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel, in this Rs. 6,000 Crore scam,” he said.
