New Delhi, Jan 4 (Representative) Senior Congress leaders from Punjab on Saturday cautioned the people of Delhi against the “fake and bogus promises of the Aam Aadmi Party” (AAP) and its National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. They also warned the people especially women of Delhi about Rs 2100 monthly stipend promised to them by Kejriwal, citing the example of Punjab, where a similar promise was made three years ago, but nothing has been done till now. Addressing a press conference at the Vijay Chowk here, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, senior leaders Partap Singh Bajwa, Ajay Maken, Devinder Yadav and others, said that before Punjab elections three years ago, the former Chief Minister had promised to pay every woman of the state Rs 1000 every month. They said almost three years have passed since the AAP government was formed in Punjab after people gave them a massive mandate and they are yet to fulfill this promise.Warring said, the Congress leaders from Punjab will extensively campaign across Delhi during the assembly election and warn people about the fake promises of the AAP and its leader Kejriwal.
He said, “When Kejriwal was asked at that time from where he will get money for these populist schemes, the AAP National Convenor had said, he will generate Rs 20,000 crore every year from sand mining and Rs 34,000 crore will be saved by curbing corruption”. Meanwhile, Partap Bajwa asked Kejriwal to pay the Rs 34,000 crore that is overdue to about one crore women of Punjab, which he had promised before the elections there. He urged people of Delhi that if they want progress and development, they must vote for a Congress government. The Senior Congress leader referred to the 15-year rule of the Congress led by late Sheila Dikshit, saying those were glorious years of progress in Delhi. Similarly, he added, the 10-year UPA rule was a golden period for the country. He alleged that Kejriwal was the biggest fraud of the century who could lie to daughters, mothers and sisters by promising to pay them Rs 1000 every month and backing out later. “The former Chief Minister owes Rs 34,000 crore so far to the women of Punjab,” he added. Bajwa said, people of Punjab were ruing and regretting having elected AAP while referring to deteriorating law and order situation in the state with progress having come to a grinding halt. Replying to a question, Ajay Maken reiterated his stand on Kejriwal and said his description of Kejriwal as ‘Farziwal’ had been proved by the revelations made by Punjab Congress leaders. For describing Kejriwal as an anti-national, he said, he will hold a detailed press conference about it on Sunday at the Delhi PCC office.
