Rae Bareli, Feb 20 (Agency) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting farmers when they sat at Delhi’s borders for over a year. Addressing a public meeting at Jagatpur here, the Congress leader also talked about issues like unemployment and price rise. “The PM went around the world but farmers were protesting 10 km away from his residence and he could not go there,” she said.
“When the farmers did not budge and elections were two months away, the Prime Minister realized it will become a major issue. So he rolled back the farm laws. Why did you let 700 farmers die? Why did you wait for a year?” she asked. She also attacked Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav: “I never saw Akhilesh Yadav step out of his home. Elections came and he stepped out to seek votes in the name of polarization”. She said the Congress would fill 12 lakh government job vacancies within 100 days if it comes to power in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 59 seats in 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh are voting on Sunday in staggered assembly elections to choose a new assembly.
