New Delhi, Dec 26 (Agency) In view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Uttar Pradesh election in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held an important meeting with the Brahmin leaders of the party here on Sunday. Several Brahmin MPs, ministers and leaders including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, state ministers Brajesh Pathak, Shrikant Sharma, Jitin Prasada, MPs Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Satyadev Pachauri, and Laxmikant Bajpai attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Pradhan consulted Brahmin leaders on various issues in the state and touched upon the Brahmin vote bank status for the party. After the meeting, the deputy chief minister said that there was a discussion regarding the Uttar Pradesh elections. He said, “No section of society is angry with the BJP. The Brahmins have benefited the most in the BJP government and many ministers in our government are Brahmins.” Uttar Pradesh has about 10 per cent of the Brahmin population, which shares a big chunk of power in the state. The meeting is also important in view of reports of the displeasure of Brahmins with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, in recent years.
