New Delhi, Sep 29 (Agency) The BJP on Wednesday said the situation in Punjab Congress is a ‘colossal failure’ of Rahul Gandhi, and that stability in the border state is necessary for the national security. On a day when former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said it was a ‘clash of ambitions’ in the Congress party which led to uncertainty in the border state.
“What is happening in Punjab is very worrying. Punjab is a border state, stability in Punjab and Punjab politics is very important for the national security,” Mr Patra said. “Instability has become synonymous to Congress. Sonia ji and Rahul ji thought they had made a strategic move and went on a holiday. We have seen what happened next,” he added. “Congress is trying to distract attention from Punjab, shows the colossal failure of Rahul Gandhi,” he added.
The comments come amid turmoil in Punjab following resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu as Punjab Congress president. His resignation came days after Amarinder Singh resigned as the chief minister of the state on September 18, and launched attack on Sidhu, calling him a friend of Pakistan PM Imran Khan and unfit for the border state.
