Mumbai, Jan 20 (FN Agency) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole said on Friday that the repeated trips being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to campaign in the state showed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was staring at defeat in Maharashtra in the coming elections. Speaking to the media in Nagpur, Patole said that Maharashtra is the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideals. Whenever there has been an attempt to end democracy and the constitution, the state of Maharashtra has stood firmly behind those who believe in democracy and the constitution.
While the BJP, which is doing politics in the name of caste and religion, is trying to end the constitutional system, the people of Maharashtra have resolved to give strength to the thoughts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu, Phule, and Ambedkar. Patole said the housing scheme in Solapur for Bidi workers was announced by then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during the UPA government.PM Modi has come to give the keys to that housing scheme. Giving the keys to projects announced by the previous government is the only Modi guarantee.Modi government took ten years to complete the scheme announced during the UPA regime. The guarantee of the Modi government in the Bidi Workers Project is just “telling lies”, he said.
“Modi is the prime minister of the country; he should not tell such lies,” Patole remarked.Refering to the PM’s earlier visit for the inauguration of the MTHL project in Mumbai, he said Modi is less of a prime minister and more of a campaign chief. Patole denounced the criticism being levelled at the Congress over the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and saidit was Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who opened the doors of the temple and arranged for the darshan of the deity, while the foundation stone was also laid during his time. ‘Gandhi also tried to resolve the issue of the Ram temple, but the BJP opposed Gandhi’s proposal at that time, so where are you building the temple now, ‘ added Patole.
