Oppn always considered STs ‘rubber stamp’: Guman

Jhabua, June 23 (Agency) BJP leader and Member of Parliament from Jhabua-Ratlam constituency Guman Singh Damor on Thursday condemned opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha’s ‘rubber-stamp’ statement and said “The opposition always considered Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes as a ‘rubber-stamp’ and they are carrying on with same ideology.” “The previous governments always considered tribals as their vote bank and never recognised community’s sacrifice since independence, Damor, who belongs to Scheduled Tribe community told UNI, adding that the respect that was due for a very long time has now, being given to the community with the candidature of Droupadi Murmu as a Presidential nominee. “The opposition always used Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes as a ‘rubber-stamp’ and they are carrying on with the same ideology.

But, now, they should know that in the BJP government everyone gets the opportunity to work with due respect & recognition,” Damor said, thanking BJP’s top brass for the decision. The Opposition candidate for the presidential polls, Yashwant Sinha, on Wednesday said the country should not have a “rubber-stamp president” and added that the battle is not between two individuals but between two ideologies. In reply to voices from social media saying Murmu will do the same work for tribals, as Ramnath did for Dalits, the BJP MP said: The President has the top most stature in the country and works for the entire nation and not for a particular community. And,so, such views are utterly wrong. Draupadi Murmu, the ruling NDA’s candidate for the presidential election, is a tribal politician from Odisha and a former governor. Murmu served as the ninth Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. She belongs to the Schedule Tribe community from the state of Odisha.
