Onion producer farmers stop onion auction at Gangapur, resort to rasta Roko for fair price

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, May 17 (FN Agency) Onion producer angry farmers at Gangapur of district on Tuesday stopped the onion auction at Market committee and resorted to rastra roko agitation against very low rates to their product. Report reaching from Gangapur here stated that,since last few days onion is fetching exorbitant price, there is a lot of anger among the farmers.Aggressiveness of the farmers is seen in the market committee of Gangapur of district on today for getting low price to their product forced to stopped the onion auction and resorted to Rasta Roka agitation on highway for their demand to fair price for onion .Therefore, long queues of vehicles are seen on the road.For the past few days, onion has been fetching two to three rupees per kg. It is true that the farmers have grown the onion with great effort day and night, but now it is fetching a bargaining price.

A similar situation is seen across the state. While in the market committees of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, onion is getting a price of only one rupee per kg. Meanwhile, when farmers brought onions for sale in Gangapur market committee today, they got a price of one rupee per kg. The angry farmers stopped the onion auction. After that, the farmers have directly come down on the road and blocked the highway of Gangapur. A large number of farmers are sitting on the road. Therefore, traffic congestion is seen at this place. Gangapur police have also reached the spot. But due to great anger among the farmers, farmers are seen refusing to leave the streets. Farmers are also seen demanding fair price for onion at this time. The police are requesting the farmers to clear the road.
