Bhubaneswar, Dec 28 (Representative) BJP National President J P Nadda on Wednesday appealed to the people to oust the BJD government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for misgovernance and bring BJP to power. Nadda who arrived in Odisha on a daylong visit to the state addressing public meetings at Tumudibandh in the tribal-dominated Kandhamal district and at Banpur in Puri district said Patnaik who speaks about the development of the state and the interest of the people of the state is depriving 60 lakh, people of the state, from availing the central assistance for health care under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The BJP leader said while the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to provide assistance, Odisha Chief Minister is standing on the way. This is Nadda’s second visit to the state within a span of three months ahead of the 2024 general election. The BJP President expressed his concern over the missing of original key of the Ratna Bhanda, the treasury of Sri Jagannath temple Puri. Taking a jibe at the state government, he said the state government failed to provide security to Ratna Bhandar, the treasury of Lord Jagannath. The original key of the Ratna Bhandar is missing and said Chief Minister should say where is the key. Quoting the National Crime Bureau Record, he said, the Odisha topped the list in atrocities on women. Women atrocities on tribal women have increased during the BJD government and the women were not safe in the state. Crime against women and human trafficking has doubled during the rule of the BJD government, he said. Human trafficking from Odisha is the highest in the country, he said.
He said that the security personnel who are supposed to provide security to the people are not safe in the state. The Police personnel are being attacked While the security personnel are not safe themselves how could they provide security to the people, he asked. The BJP President said while the Union government has set up several world-class institutes like AIIMS, IIM, IISER in Odisha, the promise of CM to set up an Odia University five years ago has not been materialised. Where is the University he asked. He also criticised the state government for its failure to reopen the Nayagarh Sugar mill. Under these circumstances, it is not known who is running the government and asked the people whether should such a government be allowed to rule the state. He appealed to the people to change the government in the coming elections and vote BJP into power. Elaborating on various schemes and developmental projects launched by the Union government for the development of Odisha, he appealed to the party workers to educate the people about it to the people at the ground zero level.
Talking about the development projects undertaken in Odisha by the Union government, he said the BJP government has established among other things 87 Ekalavaya schools, in Odisha, the highest in the country, provided Rs 3323 crore for providing tap water in each household, undertaking redevelopment of the Bhubaneswar Railway station at a cost of Rs 300 crore. He said due to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has achieved the programme and established itself in the international arena. The country is now the fifth largest economy of the country surpassing UnitedKingdom who ruled India for 200 years.
