MSRTC strike: 73 employees suspended for joining agitation

Kolhapur, Nov 11 (Agency) The Kolhapur Division of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Thursday suspended 15 employees for joining the ongoing statewide strike, which started from October 27. In the neighbouring district of Sangli, 58 agitators met the same fate, getting suspended for participating in the protest, taking the total number of suspended protestors to 73. The 15 suspended workers include employees from four ST depots of Radhanagari, Chandgad, Gadhinglaj and Ajara here.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court expressed displeasure over the “adamant stand” of the demonstrators demanding merger of MSRTC into state enterprises and lifting their pay standard at par with the state employees. Whereas, former BJP MP Dhananjay Mahadik and other senior party leaders met the agitators staging a sit-in at the Central Bus Stand here. The politicians assured them of firm BJP support and demanded the resignation of Minister of State for Transport Satej Patil for “overlooking their demands”.
