New Delhi, Oct 24 (FN Agency) Minority Affairs Minister Mukthar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday said the Narendra Modi government in the last 7 years has worked for inclusive development with a commitment of constitutional values to ensure all sections, including minorities become equal partners of the development process. “In the last 75 years of Independence, the political merchants of minority have exploited the community for their own vote-bank politics,” Naqvi said, while addressing the National Executive meet of Minority Morcha of BJP in New Delhi. In an apparent attack on Congress, Naqvi said, “Some political parties treated secularism as their political proprietorship to deceit the constitutional essence of secularism. But Secularism is Constitutional and moral commitment for the BJP,” he said. He added that pseudo-secular syndicates have misused “secularism” for garnering the votes of minority community.
Naqvi said minorities have also been immensely benefited from schemes launched by the Modi government, such as Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Jan Dhan Yojana. He said that under the leadership of the Modi government, there is a positive atmosphere in the country. “Today there is peace everywhere except in some areas of Kashmir but earlier there were many riots in the country and there was a curfew for several months,” he said. “The problem comes when people starts equating criminal incidents with communal angle for their own benefits, which is wrong,” he said. Hailing the Centre for achieving the 100-crore-mark he said, the government has done a great job during the pandemic period.
“In 1918, the number of people killed in the Spanish flu was more than 20 million and most of the people had died due to starvation” he said. During the Covid pandemic, over 80 crore people have got food without any discrimination. “Over 2 crore houses were given to the people in which minorities also got houses, electricity reached 6 lakh villages in the country, in which 39 per cent are minority villages. Under the Ujjwala scheme out of 8 crore beneficiary 37 per cent are minorities and out of 13 crore toilets in which 22 per cent were built in minority villages,” he said.
