Meghalaya govt effects bureaucratic reshuffle after LS poll

Shillong, June 25 (Representative) The Meghalaya government on Monday effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle by issuing transfers and posting orders for several senior officers after the Lok Sabha polls. The government re-appointed Rosetta Mary Kurbah as Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district, replacing the incumbent S C Sadhu, who was appointed during the Lok Sabha elections. Sadhu has been transferred as Secretary of Community and Rural Development, Fisheries etc. Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills district, Abhilash Baranwal, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district. S Awasthi, the incumbent Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills district, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner , East Jaintia Hills district. Pilot R Marak, additional Deputy Commissioner, South Garo Hills district, would be in charge of the Deputy Commissioner’s post in South Garo Hills.

Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Sampath Kumar, has also been given additional charge to also function as Principal Secretary, Forest and Environment. Commissioner and Secretary for Arts & Culture Department Frederick Roy Kharkongor will also function as Commissioner & Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department. Pravin Bakshi, who is also Commissioner & Secretary Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department will also function as Additional Chief Executive Officer, Invest Meghalaya Authority under the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department. Commissioner & Secretary Information & Public Relations Department, Vijay Mantri will also function as Commissioner & Secretary Education Department, Mining & Geology Department and as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) under the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department.

Dr Joram Beda, Commissioner & Secretary Soil & Water Conservation Department etcis relieved of his functions as Registrar of Societies. S M A Razi, Commissioner & Secretary, Public Health Engineering is relieved of his functions as Commissioner & Secretary Education Department and shall also function as Commissioner & Secretary Secretariat Administration Department. Gunanka D B, IFS, Joint Secretary Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department etc. shall also function as Joint Secretary Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare Department. R.C Sohkhlet, Secretary Tourism is relieved of her functions as Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Department. Isawanda Laloo has been appointed as Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Department. Secretary Mining & Geology Department R P Marak will also function as Director of Mineral Resources. He is, however, relieved of his functions as Commissioner of Transport. D D Sangma has been appointed as Commissioner of Transport.
