MCD organises cleanliness fortnight in schools

New Delhi, Sep 28 (Agency) Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi laid great emphasis on cleanliness, said vice chairman of Gandhi Smriti Vijay Goel at Municipal Corporation of Delhi Headquarters on Tuesday. Vijay Goel along with Mayors of three Municipal Corporations informed that a cleanliness fortnight will be held in all 2000 schools of the municipal corporations, 700 schools in North, 582 in South and 350 in East. In these schools volunteers will be made in-charge of each school. He/she will get the cleanliness done with the cooperation of everyone in the school and will also get the other unnecessary junk removed.

Goel said that award will be given to the schools with the best cleanliness in the three municipal corporations by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti. SDMC Mayor Mukesh Suryan said the corporation will organize a Jingle competition. Children will be told about the campaign in online classes. The school staff and parents of the neighbourhood will also participate in the campaign. “A fancy dress competition will be organized for children in the age group of 2 to 10 years, in which children will wear different avatars of Gandhi. Their photos will be uploaded on the video portal, the link of which will be released on October 1. Prizes will be given to the most liked pictures,’ said Mukesh Suryan, Mayo, EDMC.
