New Delhi, May 25 (Bureau) A voter turnout of 59.24 percent was recorded till 8 pm on Saturday in 58 constituencies spread across six states and two Union territories where polling was held in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election. West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout of 78.19, while Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir saw the lowest turnout of 52.28, according to the ECI data till 2000 hours. Bihar witnessed 53.60 percent voting and Uttar Pradesh recorded 54.03 percent turnout, Haryana 58.44 percent, Odisha at 60.07 percent and Jharkhand at 63.20 percent.
With this, polling is also completed in Haryana, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. In the National Capital, the voter turnout till 8 PM was recorded at 55.04 percent of the total 1.52 crore eligible voters who cast their votes at over 13,000 polling booths across the city. According to ECI, Chandni Chowk Lok sabha constituency recorded 54.79 percent voting, East Delhi, 54.79 percent , New Delhi 51.99 percent, North East Delhi 59.09 percent, North West Delhi 53.81 percent, South Delhi 53.26 percent and West Delhi 56.85 percent. In Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha Election 2024, a total of 889 candidates are in the fray. So far, voting has been completed in 25 states and Union Territories, covering 486 constituencies out of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats. The final phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024 is scheduled for June 1, with counting of votes set to take place on June 4.
