Kejriwal Promises free health services if voted to power

New Delhi Sep 30 (Agency) Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Admi Party’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday slammed the Congress party for its “infighting” in Punjab and alleged that the battle for power is going on and every Congress leader wants to become the CM. Addressing a press conference in Ludhiana, Kejriwal has said, “Five years ago people had formed the government of Congress with great expectation but the thing called government is not visible on the ground. “There is so much infighting that the government in Punjab has disappeared,” he alleged. When asked about the CM face of the party in Punjab, he said, “when the time comes we will give you a good CM face. Right now we are not thinking about it”. When asked, if Navjot Singh Sidhu would return to the party, he called it a “hypothetical question”.

Kejriwal’s visit comes at a time when the ruling party Congress is undergoing a lot of internal turmoil. Mr Kejriwal also promised six free health care services to the people of Punjab, based on the Delhi model, if his party was voted to power in the next Assembly election. Announcing his second list of pre-poll “health guarantees” at the event Kejriwal said, “if AAP forms the government the people of Punjab need not worry about the cost of treatments”. Among his offers were, free and quality healthcare for all, all medical tests, operations to be free, health- card for all, 16,000 Pind/ Mohalla clinics to be set up, a new world-class government hospital, and free treatment of all the victims of road accidents. Kejriwal said that, like Delhi, every person in Punjab will be issued a health card. “World-class mohalla clinics of Delhi will be replicated in Punjab,” he added. “The infrastructure of all government hospitals in the state will be improved and they will be made fully air-conditioned with all facilities readily available,” Kejriwal said. During his earlier visit to the state, Kejriwal had announced free 300-units of uninterrupted power to the people of Punjab. Assembly elections in Punjab are likely to take place early next year, along with those in four other states: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur. Besides Punjab, the AAP is contesting in UP, Uttarakhand, and Goa.
