Agartala, Oct 26 (FN Agency) Senior BJP leader of Telangana Indra Sena Reddy Nallu took over as 20th Governor of Tripura in a ceremonial function at Raj Bhawan Durbar hall here on Thursday. He succeeded Satyadeo Narian Arya, who served as Governor for more than two years after being transferred from Haryana to Tripura in July 2021.85–year–old Arya retired upon completion of his tenure as Governor in Haryana and Tripura and returned home in Patna. Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh administered oath of office in the presence of a huge gathering, including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and his cabinet colleagues, top officials, and dignitaries.
Soon after taking charge, Nallu said, “I am being given the responsibility to safeguard the constitution in Tripura and I shall do it. I am happy to get the opportunity to serve the people of Tripura and contribute to the process of development.” Nallu is a former National Secretary of BJP and served as president of undivided Andhra Pradesh. A three-time MLA from BJP, he got elected first in 1983 at the age of 33, followed by in 1985 and 1999. He was appointed Tripura’s governor on October 18 last. In a separate ceremony, Chief Justice Singh administered the oath of office to newly appointed judge of High Court of Tripura Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha, and Biswajit Palit as an Additional Judge.
