HP: CPI(M) opposes proposed airport in Balh

Mandi, Jan 27 (FN Bureau) Communist Party of India Marxist Mandi District Committee stated Friday that it would oppose the construction of airport at Balh area of Mandi district as it would displace number of farmers from their fertile agriculture land . This was stated by former MLA Rakesh Singha who was presiding party state committee meeting at Com. Tara Chand Bhawan Mandi,Friday. He said party in principle did not oppose construction of Mandi Airport but Government must change the site of Airport and party is with farmers to seek this demand. He welcomed the decision of restoration of old pension of the employees by the new government formed in the state and demanded the government to take immediate steps to reduce the increasing unemployment in the state and improving the functioning of the Service Selection Board Hamirpur for a long time.

The process of stalled recruitment should be started soon. Singha said the institutions which were opened by the previous BJP government without budget in the last six months of its tenure should be re-established on the basis of merit and need. He also sought to take immediate steps to revive production of cement in Barmana and Ambuja cement plants which have affected the livelihood of one lakh families. Party said Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sundar Thakur also supported construction of Airport at Balh but party believes that Jahu is the most suitable place for the construction of the airport. Apart from this, it was also demanded that four times compensation should be given to the landowners for the land being taken for four lanes and national highways being built in the state. The recruitment process of thousands of labourers kept on hold should be immediately investigated.

Apart from this, legal action should also be taken against the company engaged in the construction of Shivdham complex being built in Mandi Kangni Dhar, which has allegedly fled leaving the work incomplete. In the current year, the party has expressed concern over non-availability of scheduled days of work due to non-availability of timely budget from the center for the MNREGA scheme and the cancellation of the condition of twenty works and the rule of online attendance by the central government. The party has also demanded direct recruitment policy increase the strength of employees in departments on regular basis instead of outsourced, more than forty thousand employees are appointed on outsourcing basis in the state.
