Govt can talk to Taliban but not to farmers: Congress

New Delhi, Sep 7 (Agency) The Congress on Tuesday slammed the BJP government in center and Haryana for using force on farmers as water cannons were used on protesting farmers in Karnal, and slammed the government for talking to Taliban but not to farmers. “Modi and Khattar governments are trying to instigate farmers who are carrying on their Gandhian protests. Their conspiracy is to make Jawan and Kisan fight,” Congress Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said.

“In Karnal, thousands of farmers are face to face with the police, water cannons are being used… When you can go to Doha and talk to Taliban, why can’t you talk to farmers, who are sitting right at the border of Delhi? What is this arrogance of power that the prime minister does not want to talk to farmers,” Surjewala said. He also said that a case of murder should be filed in the death of farmer Sushil Kajal, who died after the lathi charge in Karnal on August 28, and demanded compensation for the next of kin of the farmer. Police has said Kajal died of a heart attack, which has been challenged by the farmer groups who have said no post mortem was performed.
