New Delhi, July 12 (Agency) Former Himachal Pradesh BJP President Khimi Ram Sharma on Tuesday joined the Congress in the presence of party’s state in-charge Rajeev Shukla. Welcoming Sharma, a prominent leader in the Himalayan state, Shukla said his joining the Congress will further strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. “Khimi Ramji was also a Minister and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. His joining the Congress is a clear message what is going to happen in the upcoming Assembly in Himachal Pradesh.
The Congress will win with a thumping majority,” Shukla said. The Congress leader also launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in the state. “The people of the Himachal Pradesh are suffering because of the rampant corruption of the BJP government. We are fighting against the ‘misgovernance’ of the ruling dispensation,” he said. Talking about his joining the Congress, the former Minister said it was very important for him to do so because of the present situation in the state. “Today, I am very happy to join the party which played an important role in the independence of the country. In the upcoming Assembly elections, Congress will form the government,” he said. Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh are slated to be held at the end of this year.
