New Delhi, May 10 (Agency) The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council for seven seats that are going to be vacant soon will be held on June 3. The ECI said the election is necessitated as the term of office of seven members is going to expire on June 14. The election notification will be issued on May 17, the last date for filing nominations is May 24, and the scrutiny of nominations will take place on the very next day.
The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is May 27. While the polling will be held between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on June 3, counting of votes will take place from 5 pm onwards on the same day. MLCs in Karnataka, Laxman Sangappa Savadi, Ramappa Timmapur, Allum Veerabhadrappa, H.M. Ramesha Gowda, Veena Achaiah S, Narayana Swamy K.V., and Lahar Singh Siroya would retire on June 14.
