New Delhi, Feb 16 (Representative) The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday issued a showcause notice to BJP Telangana MLA T Raja Singh, who was seen in a video threatening voters in Uttar Pradesh of dire consequences, for voting against BJP. The EC asked the MLA to reply within 24 hours to the notice. The BJP MLA from Hyderabad’s Goshamahar Assembly was heard saying in the video that even the enemies of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came out in large numbers and voted.
Those not voting for BJP would face dire consequences, he threatened, stating that a ‘JCB’ has been called for those, who vote against BJP. The notice from the poll panel said that prima facie, it appeared that the leader has violated the Model Code of Conduct, and sought a clarification. UP elections are being held in seven phases, and the third phase will be held on February 20.
