New Delhi, Nov 9 (FN Agency) Ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls scheduled on December 4, landfill sites and garbage have become key election issues for political parties. Blame-game is on between the Aam Aadmi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party. AAP earlier declared that “garbage” would be the central issue in MCD polls. In fact, it has started a “Jan Samvad” campaign on litter across Delhi from November 8.At the Ghazipur landfill site, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged the BJP, which has been in power in MCD for the last 15 years, demolished the wall of Ghazipur mandi by spreading garbage to show the height of the garbage mountain has decreased. Now the misdeeds of BJP would be exposed. “AAP has already prepared a plan to clear the garbage from the mountains of landfill sites, once it comes in the power of MCD, we will implement the plan effectively,” said Sisodia.
AAP MLA Atishi alleged that garbage spread across the national capital has now become a landmark of the colonies.Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai recently said: “Mass dialogue will start through party spokespersons at all booths. On the basis of this dialogue, we will contest the MCD elections, and we will find solutions to the problems by forming the government in MCD.” BJP Delhi unit president Adesh Gupta recently alleged that those who do politics on garbage in Delhi, they should first answer why are so many huge garbage mountains standing in small towns of Punjab? “We have set up waste to energy plants to overcome the problem of garbage in Delhi and reduced the height of the mountains of garbage,” said Gupta.
